Getting a phone call at 2 am Manila, is kind of weird for me. Nonetheless, since it has
awakened me, I answered the call. It was an inquiry from a Filipino, based in Dubai,
who’s scheduled to go home and propose to her longtime girlfriend.
He mentioned how he saw GoldandStones on Instagram and took so much interest in
getting an engagement ring from Manila instead. Then, he asked a question that I want
to share today, “How bespoke is your creation?”
Our brand is niched. We realised how niched it is as we went along from starting the
business five years ago to where it is now. We have tried to cater to almost all markets
that the jewellery industry has but we always go back to doing something where we can
add a personal touch or a personal story.
We segment everything in two simple categories – collections and creations. For our
collections, we do not only follow the trend but even try to set one. There are
inspirations we get it from, and we improve it so it will suit ages, cultures, and traditions.
For our creations, we listen to our clients’ stories, wants, needs, desires, capacity,
among other things, to make sure that we can do what they can be proud of owning.
How bespoke is our creation? We ended the call at 4 am almost as we took the time to
listen to what he’ll have for his future wife. In the morning, I started to arrange the
stone from one of my suppliers while pencil tapping my sketchpad and coordinating everything with my super team.
That’s what you get from having a dedicated jeweller although calls past midnight are
now out of the picture.
